Livermore Police Department

During the month of February, the Livermore Police Department will renew our focus on aggressively enforcing speeding laws. We will be specifically targeting neighborhoods, school zones, and secondary thoroughfares that have experienced speed related crashes. The intensified enforcement effort against speeding drivers underscores the severity of the problem both locally and across the nation.

Speeding translates to injuries and death on our roadways. It greatly reduces a driver’s ability to steer safely around another vehicle, a hazardous object, or an unexpected curve. Speeding drivers put themselves, their passengers and other drivers at tremendous risk.

In 2010, speeding was the primary contributing factor in 29% of the injury collisions occurring in the City of Livermore. A total of 64 injury collisions occurred on Livermore’s roadways that were directly attributed to the at-fault driver traveling at a speed that was unsafe. Speed has consistently been determined to have been the top primary contributing factor for collisions occurring in Livermore. By reducing instances of speeding, we can greatly reduce the likelihood of collisions occurring.

During this enforcement campaign, officers will be out targeting and ticketing speeding drivers. Our goal is to save lives and we are putting all drivers on alert – the posted speed limit IS THE LAW. If you are caught speeding, you will be stopped and ticketed – No excuses.

Coffee with the Cops is an informal social event designed to allow citizens the oppportunity to ask questions and learn about new programs and efforts the Fremont Police Department is currently focusing on in a casual setting over a cup of coffee. No formal presentation takes place, so citizens are welcome to drop in anytime during the one hour event.

Can’t make it tomorrow? We have more events planned this spring. The next Fremont Police Department Coffee with the Cops event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Suju’s Coffee (located in Centerville) from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm.

Tiny Pizza Pies – Super Bowl Appetizer

Here is the Super Bowl appetizer I am making today.   It is easy and fun – looks like some zesty canapés.  Enjoy it and let me know what your results are.

Ingredients

• 1 large cheese takeout pizza, unsliced
• Various toppings (such as pitted olives, marinated mushrooms and artichokes, sliced salami, sun-dried tomatoes, cheese, anchovy fillets, and fresh herbs, including basil, flat-leaf parsley, and oregano)

Preparation

1. Heat oven to 400° F.Using a round cookie or biscuit cutter, cut out as many circles as possible, avoiding the crust. Transfer to a baking sheet. Sprinkle with the toppings (except the fresh herbs, if using). Bake until warm, 5 to 10 minutes. Top with any fresh herbs (if using) and serve.Tip: These miniature pizzas work well in almost any setting, from a Friday-night supper for the kids to a holiday cocktail party.

Are you feeling a bit sad that the San Francisco 49ers aren’t in the Super Bowl? Ok – I am too – It was a great season and I am so looking forward to next year. As a long time 49er fan, back to the Kezar Days when I first moved to California in 1963, it was nice to see the Red and Gold back playing in style. My mom and dad, passed away now, went to two superbowls and we had one room of our house dedicated with Niners memorabilia. I found this wonderful Tribute Video to the 49ers and I am sure it will make you smile and you will enjoy grooving to the music.
